Swelling After Rhinoplasty

How long does it take for the swelling to go away after rhinoplasty?

It may be helpful to lie down with your head slightly elevated with a pillow for the first few days to reduce swelling that may occur after nose surgery. In order to speed up the healing process, you should remain as still as possible and not tilt your head down. It is helpful to be careful in situations that will increase pressure on the face, such as sneezing and coughing.

Applying cold compresses to the face area in the first days and following the doctor’s recommendations helps to heal the swelling in a shorter time. With the tampons removed from the nose, the use of cream and spray begins.

Although it varies from person to person, visible swelling in the nose may occur in the first 1-2 months. This swelling is caused by edema after surgery. The fine line at the tip of your nose is not visible, and a round, swollen appearance may occur. However, this appearance disappears within a maximum of 3 months. In rhinoplasty, grafts that strengthen the cartilage are used in addition to surgical sutures, so that the operation is permanent and obtains better results. It may take between 6 and 12 months for the nose to regain its true shape after rhinoplasty. When does the shape stabilize after rhinoplasty? Which is what is often asked. This question can be answered in this way.

Hilotherapy After Nose Aesthetics

Helotherapy is a method that is frequently applied after facelift operations and is highly effective against swelling and bruising.By this treatment, which begins 3-4 hours after rhinoplasty, the skin remains between 15 and 20 degrees. Thus, uncomfortable laying on the surface of the skin does not occur as in cold compress applications. Additionally, the lower temperature of ice application can slow blood flow and prolong healing time. Thanks to the Hilo treatment applied in the form of a mask, you can reduce bruising and swelling without sacrificing your comfort.

Hilotherapy masks are generally used in the first 48 hours after the operation. However, your doctor decides how long you will need hilo therapy after rhinoplasty.

Does Swelling Happen After Nose Aesthetics?

Edema in rhinoplasty is a normal and physiological phenomenon that occurs during the healing process of the treated area. Edema, an indicator of the healing of cartilage and bone cells, occurs after almost every cosmetic procedure. But, in the first 6-8 weeks, the uncomfortable swelling disappears. There are various methods such as the application of cortisone to reduce edema in 12 months after the operation. However, these methods are generally not recommended as post-operative edema is believed to be a healthy process.

You can apply to an experienced clinic to get detailed information about rhinoplasty. As Healdone, we wish you healthy days.
